"JOURNEYING TOGETHER SYNODALLY IN DETACHMENT, DISCERNMENT, AND COMMITMENT TO MISSION"
From the 7th to the 17th of January 21 Capitulants gathered at the Pacific Regional Seminary, Suva for deliberation in the 23rd Provincial Chapter of the Oceania Marist Province. The theme of the Chapter was "journey together synodally in detachment, discernment, and commitment to mission." The Chapter began with a cultural welcome ceremony and followed by a recollection day before starting the Chapter programs. The Chapter was honored with the presence of the Superior General who gave an uplifting address to the chapter forum. The chapter ended with a Statement of Commitment which was formally presented to the Superior General in the closing Eucharist.
Welcome to the new Provincial, Farewell to the outgoing
New Provincial - Fr Milikiade Rayalu SM
During the Chapter, the Superior General formally announced the result of the election of the new provincial, Fr Milikiade Rayalu SM of Fiji to replace Fr Setefano Mataele SM of Tonga who was elected to one of the General Assistants in Rome. Fr Milikiade was the Vicar Provincial in the previous provincial administration. He brings with him a wide experience in spirituality and formation. A special function after the Chapter was held to thank Fr Setefano and to welcome Fr Milikiade and the Superior General into the province.
